Craft Lightning Christmas Edition 2016

Time for another Craft Lightning.... crafts in 15 minutes or less for Christmas.

I always love to see what everyone comes up with.

It is a glorious fall where I live and I have gathered some sweet acorns for this quick craft.

Clean them and be sure you have a cap and an acorn for each ornament.

Drill a hole in the cap of each acorn.

Cut a piece of wire for each one about two inches long.

Twist the wire to make a loop as shown.

Push the ends of the wire together and slide them down through the acorn cap.

Once through, open the wires on the inside.

Use a hot glue gun to glue the acorns into the cap.

Gather your glitter and glittering glue.

I really do the stuff Martha Stewart makes for this.

Brush on the glue, and sprinkle with glitter.

Tap off excess.

Allow to fully dry and add a little twine hanger.

These make great gift toppers or ornaments.

A quick tip:  You can either buy processed acorns or gather your own.

If you gather your own, it is best to bake them in a craft dedicated toaster oven at 150 degrees for about 30 minutes to kill any critters dwelling within.

Faux Bone Sculpey Clay Bracelet Stacks

Sometimes I make something that I immediately fall in love with.

Enough to want to wear it all the time.

That is how it is with these bracelet stacks.

I used some of the faux bone polymer clay pieces I made in these.

I combined the clay with two of my favorite materials: wire and silk.

My husband and I worked for a couple nights balling the wire with his torches.

Then I brought them inside and wrapped and created.

I love the combination of textures.

They, along with a few other bangle bracelet stacks were featured in the Winter 2016 issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine.

Sweet Mini Ornaments for Your Littlest Trees

I love sweet little trees at Christmas time.

The tiny little ones that can dress up any space...

a bookshelf

 bathroom

bedroom

mantle

 table

 or counter top.

I love to make tiny ornaments for these little trees.

They are the perfect size and they do not get lost on a larger tree.

I wanted to share just a couple that you can whip together quick before Christmas.

My daughter made these.

She started with little clear ornaments from the dollar store.

She filled them with little beads and little strips of rolled paper.

It is fast and easy work with a slotted quilling tool.

Here are my little acorn top nests.

I take a small piece of copper wire and bend it in half and twist to make the hanger.

I stick the ends inside the acorn cap, add some hot glue, spanish moss and whole allspice.

Done!

They make a really cute little woodland fairy ornament.

And last for today is my little flannel acorn.

Cut a circle from fabric.

I used the base of a glass for size.

Sew a running stitch along the edge.

Add a wee bit of polyfil stuffing.

Pull closed and tie off.

To make the hanger, cut a piece of copper wire and twist to make a loop.

Drill a little hole in the acorn cap.

Stick the ends of the wire through the hole and bend them out inside the cap to hold.

Glue the sewn side of the fabric acorn into the cap.

I did all the same fabric for mine this time, but I think I may do a whole tree full in fun co-ordinating prints.

Hope you have a minute to make a few...
