GreenCraft Magazine...And a Giveaway!

Have you seen the newest issue of GreenCraft magazine?

It is fantastic.

So many fantastic projects.

I love green crafts...

Reusing, up-cycling and recycling are so important to all of us.

I am tickled to have a couple projects in this issue.

Here are my Stubby Pencil necklaces.

I love how a little clay and some paint can change something that would get thrown away into something so cute to wear.
I

My dear friend Melinda Barnett used some stubby pencils too.

Check out her adorable earrings.

My tiny shampoo bottle reliquary is in this issue.

One of my favorite projects is the cuffs made from shampoo bottles.

Ella Wilson uses candy tubes to make some really cute ways to store change for laundry.

One of the new articles is a round up of projects all made from the same material.

This issue has a round up of things made from sweaters.

See that bag with the red heart?

That was mine.

I so loved those cupcake pincushions and that sweet little dachshund (also from Melinda Barnett).

Melinda Barnett's amazing plant markers made from old spoons are on the cover.

I am so excited to tell you that I am giving away this issue of GreenCraft.

To win, leave a comment with your favorite recycling project you have done.  be sure to leave your email so I can get in touch with you to let you know you have won...

Contest is open to U.S. residents only

I will choose a winner from the comments on September 4th and announce the winner on the 5th.

Good Luck!

Recycled Wool Sweater Cozies

I am always grabbing cans and jars from the recycling bin.

I love utilitarian pieces from what some consider trash.

I love all the ways you can fancy them up.

This time I wanted something super easy.

I took 2 sweaters that had been felted.

I now do this at the laundromat when I take my giant comforter.

I washed them on the heaviest cycle on hot.

Then I threw them in the dryer.

One year I did them at home and the sweater pilled and balled so much I had to call a repairman to come unplug the wool balls from deep in the machine's workings.

I have been banned from felting at home now...

For this project, I am going to use the sleeves.

Before I cut anything, I slid the can and jar inside to make sure they fit.

I measured and cut them to fit how I wanted them to.

Don't they look cozy?

Then I cut 2 hearts from another red felted sweater and blanket stitched them in place.

No they hold my art supplies stylishly.

These would make a great little gift.

It could be even more special if you used a sweater from the recipient.

Maybe I will whip a few more of these up for gifts.

15 Jewelry Projects From Up Cycled Materials

I am always looking for ways to reuse something I have or something someone has discarded.

I also love the challenge of taking something common and doing something uncommon with it.

Take a look at some jewelry projects that started with some very non-jewelry related items.

These bangles got an upgrade with buttons and some earring flowers.

Find the post here.

A vintage spoon and a bullet casing became this fun necklace.

Find the post here.

These fun rose bracelets are actually made from plain white sheets.

See how to make your own here.

And more sheets transformed this bangle to a fun cuff.

Tutorial here.

These plastic bangles got a makeover with some washi tape.

Make your own by following this tutorial.

The following pieces remain among my favorites to this day.

These were made from plastic tubing, shotgun shells and were dressed up with recycled silk strips.

See the full post here.

Some incorporated hardware pieces as well.

Don't throw away that old puzzle because some of the pieces are lost.

Make some earrings instead.

See the post here.

You might want to raid your kids pockets after seeing this post.

A simple glass marble becomes a fun yet sophisticated necklace.

See it here.

The same post shows how to turn a tiny glass Christmas ornament into a tiny time capsule.

A bullet casing can become an amazing jewelry piece.

See the full post here.

These pretty earrings started with some paper flowers from the scrapbooking section of your favorite store.

See the post here.

How about making some very artistic earrings from some beads, yarn and discarded book pages?

See them here.

More buttons...

This time getting a new life as a fashionable choker.

This bohemian sweetheart stars beads made from felt and discarded book pages.

See the post here.

I promise to bring you more up cycled jewelry pieces soon.

It is my favorite thing to create.

Are you a Green Crafter?

I have been a green crafter long before it was cool.

As a child, I used what I had to create.

That might be pebbles and twigs from nature, scraps of fabric or paper, tin cans, or anything else I snagged from the trash.

I continued that trend my whole life.

I am so pleased that many others recycle or repurpose or reuse.

Do you have any of these items around your house?

Old Jeans?

Brown Paper bags?

A board book?

Canning Jars?

Fabric scraps or old clothing?

Dryer Sheets?

If you do, and you love to create, you need to get a copy of the Autumn 2015 GreenCraft magazine from Stampington.

Inside, you will find over 80 stylish projects made from these and many more common materials....

For example, remember those jeans?

They can become this

 Made by Nikki Meiners.

or this

made by Julia Schneider.

or this

made by Melinda Barnett.

Brown paper bags

made by Lorrimarie Jenkins.

A board book

made by Vanessa Spencer.

Canning Jars

from Michelle E. Black.

Little bits of fabric can become

from Ashlee Park.

Dryer sheets can become a variety of useful new projects like this

or these:

Here is where I admit that the dryer sheet projects in this issue are all made by me.

Really.

If any of these projects inspired you, you need to go grab a copy.

GreenCraft is available at major bookstores, many craft stores and directly from Stampington here.

Even better, I am lucky enough to work with Stampington again for another giveaway.

Leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing to recycle and what you do with it to be entered for a chance to win your own copy of GreenCraft.

I will be choosing a winner from the comments next Sunday and the winner will be announced Monday.

Stampington will send the copy directly to you.

It does not get much easier than that...

I cannot wait to hear what things you recycle and how.
