Sorry I have been MIA lately.

Sometimes life throws you some curve balls.

But I am back now.

I love this set for summer...

And this one is actually a single piece that looks like a bracelet stack.  

I wear this one all the time.

I made it just for me.

I never do that...

Midnight Prowler...Wings Series

I love my new determination to use the wonderful bits and pieces I have been saving.

It makes it so much fun to get things out to create.

I know anything could end up in a design instead of just the things I have plenty of.

Typically I can be drawn to a piece of jewelry that has just one component that I love....

In this piece, I love them all.

Blueberry Cove Beads-Fairy Tales

Are you familiar with Blueberry Cove Beads?

It is a bead subscription service.

You receive a monthly curated themed box of beads.

My first box seemed like it was created just for me.

The theme: Fairy Tales.

I am not kidding.

Here's what was in the box.

I created a couple tutorials for Isobel using the beads and components in the box.

I made these easy toadstool earrings.

I tell you step-by-step how to make your own pair.

I added a few other supplies not in the box to make my earrings like moss and earring hoops.

The tutorial also provides directions for making these whimsical earrings.

I used more earring hoops and some waxed linen cord to make these designs.

There are lots of beads and components in the box....

Enough to make several pieces.

So I did another tutorial for making this necklace as well.

I just added some jump rings, silk strips and a skeleton key.

Anchors Away Multi-strand bracelet

I make a lot of jewelry.

Many of the pieces get submitted to magazines.

Some get sold.  

Some I give away.

Occasionally I make a piece for me.

To wear.

This bracelet I made specifically for me.

It is multi-strand which I love...

It gives me the look of piling on a armful with just one piece.

I wear this one all the time.

I love the beads that dangle on the ends too.

How can you go wrong with silk, clay, pearls and waxed linen cord?

April is Amulet month!

At least it is over at Art Jewelry Elements.

I was one of the lucky winners.

This sweet little thing came in the mail....

Now, I have to admit....the whole reason I signed up was that I wanted to see one of these amazing amulets up close and personal.

So imagine my delight when I was contacted that I had won.

I was even more delighted when it came.

It is even better than I hoped.

My head began swimming with possibility.

So the first thing I did was to get out my 3 favorite materials to work with: silk strips, polymer beads and waxed linen cord.

And quickly, this came together.

The amulet is predrilled on either side but the cork was not so I tied my waxed linen cord through the holes on each side and this allowed the cork to still fit back on.

I love the colors of the one she sent me....

It goes perfectly with my handmade polymer clay beads...

I just did simple knotting with the cord and silk strips.

I prefer a necklace that is adjustable with the silk cords.

So there you have it....

My amulet reveal.  

I cannot wait to see the rest.

Silk, leather and clay

I was playing with new ways to use polymer clay beads.

Of course, no design is complete without silk strips...

This one has a little leather cord as well.

Leather and Polymer Clay Cuffs

The last couple months have been filled with lots of unexpected adventures.

I am still creating but much of it has been for specific projects that I can't share yet.

Today I wanted to share a few pieces that have been on my workbench.

These wrap braclets incorporate leather, silk and my own polymer beads.

I really love this cuff bracelet.

Very bohemian.

Although it does require a friend to help put it on.  

It has a wider leather base and then the silk and leather cord wrap around it to secure it.

This one has a thinner leather base, but it wraps around a few more times.

The silk is woven through the leather.

And the clay nest serves as both a focal and an essential part of the clasp.

Shotgun Shell Vials....Inspired By Lynne Simon Suprock

I was looking through my pictures to see if there was anything I had missed sharing with you.

I realized I did not share these.

I gave you a taste of them when I shared the post for over dying silk strips.

Today I wanted to show you all of them.

Lynne Simon Suprock is an amazing artist.

Her original pieces first appeared in an issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry.

I made my own after I tracked down the right size tubing.

Because my shotgun shells were not brass, the etching did not work the way I wanted.

I do like the patina I got on mine.

I love filling each little reliquary.

That is half the fun.

I also like determining what the rest of the necklace will be like....

Old hardware, crystals, silk strips, polymer beads, patinaed chain....

It is all good.

I gave a makeover to cheap mall jewelry chains with mad scientist patinas.

Because I do them myself, each has a whole different look.

I even stamped some of the vials with StazOn black ink.

Uh-oh!

Sometimes when I revisit something I made, it gives me an itch to make some more.

I am definitely feeling itchy...

This fun necklace is a mix of wire, silk, clay, glass, pearls,and wood.

The key focal was made from a mold I made from a vintage key.
